Edmund “Ed” Clement Gagne Jr. passed away on April 21, 2024, surrounded by his family at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. Ed was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on May 10, 1941. He was 82 years young. He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Priscilla May (Browning) Gagne. They were married on a beautiful, 70-degree day, on November 4, 1961, at Holy Family Church in East Taunton. Ed was the son of the late Edmund C. Gagne Sr. and Francis Panepinto and son-in-law of the late Lauretta and Charles Browning Sr. Ed was the loving dad of Lynn (Gagne) Bartlett and Ed Gagne III. He was the grandfather to Nathan, Noah, Drew, Robin, Cameron, and Kaitlin. He was the great-grandfather to Ellie and Shia. Ed was also the father-in-law to Ellen Gagne and the grandfather to Hannah, Emily, and Ian. He was extremely proud of all of his grandchildren. Ed was the brother of Rosemary (Gagne) Lewis, her husband, Brian, and the late John Gagne. Ed enjoyed any time he could spend with his nieces and nephews - Denise, Chuckie, Chris, Nicki, Ray, Melissa, and their families. Ed moved from Quincy to Taunton in 1957, where he attended and graduated with high honors from Coyle High School in 1959. Ed attended Northeastern University. He went on to work for General Work Clothes/Aramark for 45 years as a driver salesman. Ed had an incredible work ethic. After retiring from his successful career, Ed took a part-time job at the YMCA in Taunton, which added 10 wonderful years to his working career. Ed was known for his infectious smile and his fun sense of humor. He always found time for his family and his community. He played clarinet in the Taunton City Band and was also involved with the East End Sportsman Club in Fall River. Ed’s love of sports was evident. He was the President of the Weir Tigers Pop Warner football team and was involved with the local minor and little league teams in Taunton for years. Ed was also involved with thoroughbred horseracing with his father and brother, John. He loved horse racing from ownership, to training, to just being an avid fan. He also spent many years playing golf at the Poquoy Brook Golf Club in Lakeville, Massachusetts. He also loved his local sports teams - the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox, and Celtics. Ed enjoyed camping and taking trips with his family. He especially loved traveling to Las Vegas with his lovely bride, Priscilla. Ed always loved to be surrounded by friends, family, and lots of fun. He was known for having the best parties and get-togethers featuring his favorite golden oldies music. Ed truly loved his neighbors like family. He lived in the same neighborhood in East Taunton for almost 70 years and built strong friendships. A special thank you to his caring neighbors - the DeMouras, the Costellos, and the Cohns. They were always there to lend a hand. We would like to thank the incredible staff of the Taunton Police, Fire and Rescue, Morton Hospital, Medivac Flight, and the Burlington Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.
