Florinda Medina

In Taunton, Florinda Silva Medina, age 88, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her loving family on April 9, 2024. Florinda was the wife of the late Jose R. Medina. She was born in Flores, Azores, the daughter of the late Urbano Pedro DaSilva and Julia (Costa) DaSilva. Florinda immigrated from Flores in the Azores in 1977, resided in Stoughton for some time and had been a resident of Taunton since 1991. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, had a strong faith in her church and savior, and loved helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Florinda leaves her beloved son and daughter in law, Deacon Joseph Medina and his wife Regina of Taunton. She also leaves her grandchildren; Sonia Castro and husband John, Richard Medina, and Matthew Medina and wife Michelle, and her 6 great grandchildren. Florinda is survived by her siblings; Almerio Silva and wife Fatima of Flores, Mario Silva and wife Olivia of Flores, and her late siblings; Urbano, Adelino, Jose Silva and Almerinda Sousa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church in Taunton on Friday, April 12th at 1 pm. Visiting hours are kindly omitted. Her burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
