Alice Boivin Obituary

Alice Boivin (1934-2026) Alice F. (Donnelly) Boivin, age 91, passed away peacefully in her home on February 22, 2026, after a long illness. She was the loving wife of the late J. Francis Boivin. She was born in Taunton to the late P. Edward and Edith (Connaty) Donnelly. A 1952 graduate of Taunton High School, she earned a B. S. & M. Ed. degree from the former Bridgewater Teachers’ College and taught in the Norton Public Schools. Alice was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Fall River Diocese, in recognition of service to both the former Immaculate Conception and St. Jude Parishes. She has been a Eucharistic minister at parishes and Morton Hospital, catechist, director of religious education, lector, and volunteer for many parish events. For volunteering in various schools and community groups, she was honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award. She has served as treasurer of the former St. Jude Women’s Guild, and the president of both the Greater Taunton Gaelic Society and Catholic Financial Life Council 53. She cared for many foster babies as they awaited their adoptive homes. She enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, playing cards with her friends, and a lifetime of summers spent at the family cottage. She leaves her children, daughter Michelle and her husband Stephen VanVoorhis of Raynham, and son Brian Boivin and his husband Patrick Memari of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, as well as her granddaughters Alexa, Katie, and Lainey VanVoorhis. She leaves her sisters, Dorothy Taylor of Wareham, and Jeanne Campbell Walker of Taunton, and was the sister of the late Edward Donnelly, Elainey Briody, and Edith Furtado. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and their descendants. Funeral from the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, March 2nd at 10 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11 am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours on Sunday, March 1st from 5-7 pm. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Taunton.
