Elvie Gabriel Obituary

On February 22, 2026, Elvie Dorceus Gabriel, a resident of Raynham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side at the age of 91. Elvie was born in Léogâne, Haiti, and was the beloved wife of the late Jean Dominique Gabriel, and the cherished daughter of the late Elve Dorceus and Lauricile Summerville. A devoted housewife, Elvie dedicated her life to her family. On December 23, 1995, she moved to the United States to care for her three‑month‑old grandson, Rodney. She initially lived in Belmont, Massachusetts with her daughter Julie Cesar, her late husband Jean Dominique Gabriel, and her grandsons Rodney and Rodson Cesar. The family later relocated to Raynham, Massachusetts, which Elvie proudly called home. Elvie was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Education was one of her greatest values, she and her late husband ensured that all of her children attended top schools in Haiti and emphasized the importance of academic excellence above all else. An excellent cook, Elvie found great joy in preparing meals for her loved ones and enjoyed watching cooking shows. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, care, and togetherness. Elvie is survived by her loving children: Julie Cesar, Johnny Gabriel, Garry Gabriel, Stevenson Gabriel, and Richard Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her son, Erick Gabriel. She was the proud grandmother of Rodney J. Cesar, Renaldy D. Gabriel, Garry Jr. Gabriel, Rodson D. Cesar, Sasha P. Gabriel, Jahaida M. Gabriel, Morgan L. Gabriel, Theresa C. Gabriel, and Richard Jr. Gabriel. She was the cherished great‑grandmother of Eliyana J. Cesar, Isaiah M. Cesar, and Caleb G. Cesar. Elvie is also survived by her siblings: Mrs. Anna Charles Thimothe, Mrs. Josephine Dorceus Ganthier, Mrs. Claire Pierre Louis, Mr. Andrecius Dorceus, She was preceded in death by her sister Mrs. Louisena Dorceus, Mrs. Camelite Dorceus, Ms. Elicia Dorceus, Mr. Evans Dorceus, Mr. Elvoie Dorceus, and Mr. Jean‑Claude Dorceus She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, including Suzette Dorceus, Marie Lilie Ganthier, Margueritte Ganthier, Micherose Ganthier, Andre‑Rose Dorceus, Myrland Dorceus, Ruthva Dorce Joseph, Louvenscky Ganthier, Martine Dorce, Sherley Dorce, Carine Douarin, Getty Casias, Claudy Ganthier, Evelo Ganthier, George Ganthier, Vaudreck Saint Felix, Franco Casias, Reginal Dorceus, and Junior Dorceus. Wake Service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Keefe‑Wade Funeral Home, located at 70 Washington Street, Taunton, MA 02780. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 8:30 AM at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 30 South Main Street, Assonet, MA 02702. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, 1540 Stafford Road, Fall River, MA 02721. Elvie Dorceus Gabriel will be remembered for her strength, devotion, wisdom, and unconditional love.
